STEM CELL-CONDITIONED MEDIUM

Conditioned medium:
components, uses and research.

Stem cell-conditioned medium | Understand source and preparation, and the distinction from cell therapy

Content reviewed: 30 October 2026 · Fee source: March 2026

What conditioned medium is

Conditioned medium is the liquid portion obtained after cell culture and separation. The clinic’s materials describe it as containing no intact living cells and potentially containing secreted proteins, cytokines and other components. Composition, quantity and quality depend on the actual preparation and testing.

It is not liquid drawn directly from fat. Adipose origin, personal autologous source or donor source must be verified for each item; unspecified sources should not be assumed.

Three important distinctions

  • Autologous stem cells: a preparation containing cells from the individual.
  • Conditioned medium: the separated liquid portion after culture, distinct from living cells.
  • Exosome preparations: the term conditioned medium does not establish that specific exosomes have been purified, quantified or verified.

Procedures described in the clinic’s materials

The materials list intravenous administration and local applications involving the face, scalp, joints and urinary system. Listing an item does not establish sufficient clinical evidence for each use. The preparation, source, route and suitability require item-specific medical explanation.

Consider the evidence alongside the risks

Research on cell secretions is of interest, but laboratory findings, individual cases or other preparations cannot establish the effects of a particular commercial treatment. The 2020 autologous stem cell study does not directly demonstrate effects of conditioned medium.

Absence of living cells does not mean absence of risk, and animal-origin-free (AOF) preparation does not mean absolute clinical safety. Ask about infection or contamination, allergic and immune reactions, administration-related risks and unknown long-term risks for the specific preparation and use.

A provision plan for autologous stem cells is not proof of approval for every conditioned-medium use. Before deciding, ask the clinic about preparation identity, manufacturing and traceability, regulatory status, approved alternatives where relevant, and the option of no treatment.

Why 30 cc has different listed fees

The March 2026 materials list an approximately 30 cc autologous conditioned-medium option at ¥550,000 and a separate 30 cc intravenous item at ¥1,034,000. These appear in different sections and are not interchangeable. Do not assume the reason for the difference; confirm eligible clients, source, specifications and included costs with the clinic.
